At Ruth and Kate Portraits, a mom-and-daughter fine art studio in Renton, Washington, we specialize in museum-quality portraits that celebrate dedication, artistry, and the spirit of movement. One extraordinary dancer we’ve had the joy of photographing is Niyah, whose love for dance began at six years old at the British Dancing Academy in Kent, WA.
When she was accepted into the BFA dance program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, that dream started to feel real. Surrounded by inspiring mentors like Seattle native Pamela Yasutake and supported by her incredible parents, she began to believe this life could become a reality.
Through years of rigorous training in ballet, tap, jazz, and modern dance, and summer intensives with icons like Debbie Allen, the Ailey Experience, and Hubbard Street Dance Company, Niyah’s talent blossomed. Her hard work led her to join the Houston Contemporary Dance Company, where each day is filled with class, rehearsal, and teaching, embodying the vibrant life of a professional dancer.
We’re proud to honor Niyah’s journey and showcase what passion and perseverance can achieve. Her story is a testament to the artistry and beauty she shares on stage.
If you’re a dancer (or a parent of one), looking to capture the essence of movement and emotion, Ruth and Kate Portraits offers relaxed, guided sessions for children, teens, and adults. After your shoot, enjoy an in-person viewing to select your favorite artwork and heirloom albums, making for a truly personal and memorable experience. We serve Renton, Seattle, Kent, Bellevue, Tacoma, and all of Puget Sound. Sessions are by appointment only.
